Two years ago, along the coast of Taormina-Giardini Naxos (Sicily, Italy) I noticed two motorboats in bad conditions, as if they were waiting for a cure, a restoration. My eyes were immediately drawn to the colors on the sides and hull. After thousands of hours of navigation, the paint had corroded and decomposed. It was as if the water of the sea, in the strength of its waves, had imprinted all the possible stories of sea water. By bringing my eyes and the camera closer, I could hear and feel them.

Due anni fa, lungo la costa di Taormina, in Sicilia, notai due imbarcazioni malmesse, come se fossero in attesa di una cura, di un restauro. I miei occhi vennero subito attratti dai colori presenti sulle fiancate e sullo scafo. Dopo migliaia di ore di navigazione, la vernice si era corrosa e decomposta. Era come se l’acqua del mare, nella forza delle sue onde, avesse impresso tutte le possibili storie dell’acqua di mare. Avvicinando i miei occhi, e la fotocamera, ho potuto ascoltarle e percepirle.
