It is the place in Copenhagen where you would never stop taking pictures. The atmosphere is enchanting, also suggested by the colors. This is Nyhavn, the ancient canal port of the Danish capital: in the literal translation, however, it means New Port. It was built between 1670 and 1673 by Swedish prisoners of war.
It can be reached by crossing Kongens Nytorv, the new square of the King, where the theater where the royal Danish dance company is based.
The north side of Nyhavn has been urban redeveloped and is one of the places to visit and where, in fact, to get lost to photograph the colorful houses built with wood and bricks. The neat plastered walls alternate in warm and cold colors and give the place a very special charm, also fueled by the cheerfulness of the clubs (bars and restaurants) that follow one another along the canal harbor.
The oldest house, at number 9, dates back to 1681. Later, in the building marked with number 67, between 1845 and 1864, lived Hans Christian Andersen, as indicated by a commemorative plaque. From 1871 to 1875, the writer lived in Nyhavn 18, which now houses a souvenir shop dedicated to themes and subjects of his works. The New Port was, for Andersen, an exceptional observation point. And a constant source of inspiration. We understand why, even today.

È il luogo di Copenhagen dove non si smetterebbe mai di scattare fotografie. L’atmosfera è incantevole, suggerita anche dai colori. Si tratta di Nyhavn, l’antico porto canale della capitale danese: nella traduzione letterale però significa Porto Nuovo. Venne costruito tra il 1670 e il 1673 dai prigionieri di guerra svedesi.

Vi si arriva attraversando Kongens Nytorv, la piazza nuova del Re, dove sorge il teatro in cui ha sede la reale compagnia di danza danese.

Il lato nord di Nyhavn è stato riqualificato urbanisticamente ed è uno dei luoghi da visitare e in cui, appunto, perdersi per fotografare le case colorate costruite con legno e mattoni. Le linde pareti intonacate si alternano nelle tinte calde e fredde e conferiscono al luogo un fascino tutto particolare, alimentato anche dall’allegria dei locali (bar e ristoranti) che si susseguono lungo il porto canale.

La casa più antica, al numero 9, risale al 1681. Più avanti, nello stabile contrassegnato dal numero 67, tra il 1845 e il 1864, visse Hans Christian Andersen, come indicato da una targa commemorativa. Dal 1871 al 1875, lo scrittore dimorò invece a Nyhavn 18, che ora ospita un negozio di souvenirs dedicati a temi e soggetti delle sue opere.
