Cities reveal themselves also through random images of ripped and decomposed publicity posters and natural decompositions we may see along the streets. In this video I gathered some macro photos I took in Monterotondo, which is located at the gates of Rome.
Rust, papers, glue, dust, spray colors residuals and other materials mixed with torn posters gave origin to some fascinating scenes, that seem to come out of a painter’s brush. Instead these are simple photographs of a billboard cleaned of posters. Rust, an unmistakable sign of the wear and tear of time, gives life to a singular palette of colors and graphic elements, all casual and spontaneous. And speaking of billboards, the covid health emergency – and the slowdown in commercial activities – has led to a reduction in advertising billboards. And this too is the sign of the time of the pandemic.
