I painted this rose which is from my garden, after having a small stroke. I wanted to paint something just for me and this rose seemed very soft and gentle. The outer petals seem to protect the inner core of the rose and this seemed to represent me. After having the stroke, I felt the need to protect and be gentle with myself.
