In this hot month of August 2021, I want to take you on a journey. It is obviously an imaginary journey that arises from the concrete and real images that I have seen and captured, with my camera. A few weeks ago, near the port of Bari (Apulia, Italy) along the pier, I noticed two boats in bad condition, as if they were waiting for a cure, a restoration.

My eyes were immediately drawn to the colors on the sides and hull. After thousands of hours of navigation, the paint had corroded and decomposed. It was as if the water of the sea, in the strength of its waves, had imprinted all the possible stories of sea water. By bringing my eyes and the camera closer, I could hear and feel them. Now I share them with you, through these images, which will accompany us gradually throughout the month of August 2021.

In questo caldo mese di agosto 2021, voglio portarvi dentro un viaggio. E’ un viaggio ovviamente immaginario che nasce però dalle immagini concrete e reali che ho visto e catturato, con la mia fotocamera. Poche settimane fa, nelle vicinanze del porto di Bari, lungo il molo, ho notato due imbarcazioni malmesse, come se fossero in attesa di una cura, di un restauro. I miei occhi vennero subito attratti dai colori presenti sulle fiancate e sullo scafo. Dopo migliaia di ore di navigazione, la vernice si era corrosa e decomposta. Era come se l’acqua del mare, nella forza delle sue onde, avesse impresso tutte le possibili storie dell’acqua di mare. Avvicinando i miei occhi, e la fotocamera, ho potuto ascoltarle e percepirle. Ora le condivido con voi, attraverso queste immagini, che ci accompagneranno via via per tutto il mese di agosto 2021.
