Welcome to the “projection game”! Since I started documenting, with the camera, the world of the decomposition of materials, people have always been spontaneously pushed to see, in my macro images, worlds and dimensions that I had never imagined. I think it is one of the most interesting aspects of my research project.

Today I am presenting the image that refers to a detail of defaced and superimposed posters on an outdoor advertising billboard. Is it a black half moon that is watching us? What about those border lines on the posters? And the set of pixelated colors? And maybe there is something else too.

A LESSON BY LEONARDO DA VINCI

Since the beginning of humanity there have always been those who have tried to read the clouds, the sky, the stars of the night, the signs of the earth. In practice, what is part of one’s inner world has always been projected onto the outside, in search of security, explanations, reassurance.

I have always been fascinated by the behavior of Leonardo Da Vinci who advised his students to carefully observe the stains on the old and dirty walls, or to see and scrutinize the marbled stones, in order to see landscapes, battles, heads, figures, shapes.

In practice, the great Leonardo advised his students to take part in what today, in various fields of knowledge, is called a “projection”. Moreover, the human being needs to know himself and to develop his interiority through external stimuli (and the experience of the “test” as a psychodiagnostic tool will also arise from this).

Benvenuti al “gioco delle proiezioni”! Da quando ho iniziato a documentare, con la fotocamera, il mondo della decomposizione dei materiali, la gente è sempre stata spontaneamente spinta a vedere, nelle mie macro immagini, mondi e dimensioni che mai avevo immaginato. Penso che sia uno degli aspetti più interessanti del mio progetto-ricerca. Oggi presento l’ immagine che si riferisce ad un particolare di manifesti deturpati e sovrapposti in un tabellone pubblicitario all’aperto. E’ una mezzaluna nera quella che ci guarda? E quelle linee dei bordi dei manifesti? E l’insieme dei colori pixellati?

L’immagine è stata catturata su un cancello durante una bella passeggiata nel delizioso borgo Santo Spirito, sul mare, vicino a Bari, un tempo appartenente al comune di Bitonto. Che cosa si vede nell’immagine con i graffi e le crepe di un vecchio cancello? Buon esercizio di proiezione (psicologica)!
