It’s incredible how rust is part of time. Day after day, it forms and takes root on surfaces, allowing them to be invaded, corroded, and changed. And it’s even more incredible when rust forms shapes and figures, as if on the metal walls of a waste container. In this series of images, the rust appears light; indeed, it itself seems a feather floating in the air. These are the surprising effects of the natural process of deterioration.

Time and rust have the fascinating power to change things without the contribution and conditioning of the human being’s hand. The work and the creative action that rust can do are truly surprising. Like in this series of images (watch the video). We can glimpse scenes that remind us of dry leaves, fronds of trees shaken by the wind, red flowers of indecipherable plants …

Rust, papers, glue, dust, spray colors residuals and other materials mixed with torn posters gave origin to some fascinating scenes, that seem to come out of a painter’s brush. Instead these are simple photographs of a billboard cleaned of posters. Rust, an unmistakable sign of the wear and tear of time, gives life to a singular palette of colors and graphic elements, all casual and spontaneous. And speaking of billboards, the covid health emergency – and the slowdown in commercial activities – has led to a reduction in advertising billboards. And this too is the sign of the time of the pandemic.

E’ incredibile come la ruggine sia parte del tempo. Giorno dopo giorno, si forma e si radica sulle superfici, che si lasciano invadere, corrodore e modificare. Ed è ancora più incredibile quando la ruggine disegna forme e figure, come avvenute sulle pareti metalliche di un contenitore di rifiuti. In questa serie di immagini, la ruggine ci appare come leggera, anzi, sembra essa stessa una piuma che sembra volteggiare nell’aria. Sono i sorprendenti effetti del processo naturale del deterioramento.

Ruggine, tracce di carta, colla, polvere, residui di colori e altri materiali mescolati a manifesti strappati, hanno dato origine ad alcune scene affascinanti, che sembrano uscite dal pennello di un pittore. Invece queste sono semplici fotografie di un cartellone ripulito dai manifesti. La ruggine, segno inconfondibile dell’usura del tempo, dà vita a una singolare tavolozza di colori ed elementi grafici, tutti casuali e spontanei. E a proposito di cartelloni pubblicitari, l’emergenza sanitaria covid – e il rallentamento delle attività commerciali – hanno portato ad una riduzione delle affissioni pubblicitari. E anche questo è il segno dei tempi della pandemia.
