The mailboxes, located outdoors, along roads, in Italy have not yet retired. They are still up and running. And emails haven’t replaced them yet (we should keep the natural beauty of writing letters and postcards). And thank goodness!

For me, mailboxes are always a source of surprises and images. They are like small outdoor art installations. Time, smog, atmospheric corrosion, dust make them full of cracks and scratches. And they are, for me, one of the most interesting subjects for close-up photos. To these singular objects, I dedicate a series of images taken in these months of 2022. The series adds to the approximately 150,000 photographs that I have so far collected for the “Lacer/actions” project.

Le cassette per la posta, situate all’aperto, lungo strade, in Italia non sono ancora andate in pensione. Sono ancora attive e funzionanti. E le email non le hanno ancora sostituite: meno male! Per me le cassette postali sono sempre una fonte di sorprese e di immagini. Sono come piccole installazioni d’arte all’aperto. Il tempo, lo smog, le corrosioni atmosferiche, la polvere le rendono cariche di crepe e di graffi. E sono, per me, uno dei soggetti più interessanti per le foto ravvicinate. A questi singolari oggetti, dedico una serie di immagini scattate in questi mesi del 2022. La serie si aggiunge alle circa 150.000 fotografie che finora ho raccolto per il progetto “Lacer/actions”.
