Yes, God Save The Queen! And how could it be otherwise. What world would it be without Her Majesty Elizabeth? We join in the joy of the people of the United Kingdom, who are celebrating her 70 years of honorable (and sometimes stormy) service to the citizens called “Her Britannic Majesty”, because the meaning, and the essence, of British citizenship are precisely in these expressions.

It is therefore nice to remove from recent albums the images taken at the historic Council House in Nottingham, where I had the honor of being received by the Lord Mayor Mohammed Saghir who took me to an austere and solemn room, in front of a canvas that few visitors can admire. It was her: Queen Elizabeth, in one of the most fascinating portraits they could ever make of her: it was painted in 1970 by John Townsend. So, God Save The Queen! And in our best wishes we join the party that so many friends are celebrating these days across the UK. God Save The Queen: and there will be a reason.

Ci uniamo alla gioia del popolo del Regno Unito, che la celebra per i suoi 70 anni di onorato ( e a volte tempestoso) servizio ai cittadini detti, appunto, di “Sua Maestà Britannica”, perché il senso, e l’essenza, della cittadinanza British stanno proprio in queste espressioni. E’ bello, dunque, togliere dagli album recenti le immagini scattate presso la storica Council House di Nottingham, dove ebbi l’onore di essere ricevuto da Sua Eccellenza il Lord Mayor Mohammed Saghir che mi portò in un’austera e solenne sala, davanti ad una tela che pochi visitatori possono ammirare. Era lei: Queen Elizabeth, in uno dei più affascinanti ritratti che mai le potessero fare: venne dipinto nel 1970 da John Townsend. Dunque, God Save The Queen!
