This evening of Sunday 22 August 2021, the Italian skies will be illuminated by the splendid Full Moon of August. It will be the so-called “Blue Moon”. The fascinating denomination is not linked to color, but to rarity, since it is the third full moon in a season that has four (normally there are three). The August full moon is also known as the “Sturgeon Moon”, based on the tradition of the Algonquian Native Americans who fished many of them this month. The astronomical show will start at 20:30 Rome time.

Questa sera di domenica 22 agosto 2021, i cieli italiani saranno illuminati dalla splendida Luna Piena di agosto. Sarà la cosiddetta “Luna Blu”. L’affascinante denominazione non è legata al colore, bensì alla rarità, dato che si tratta del terzo plenilunio in una stagione che ne ha quattro (normalmente ce ne sono tre). Il plenilunio di agosto è conosciuto anche come “Luna dello Storione”, sulla base della tradizione dei nativi americani algonchini che in questo mese ne pescavano molti. Lo spettacolo astronomico avrà inizio alle 20:30 ora di Roma.
