How could it be defined? The steel wall against the virus? The covid vaccine barrier? Certainly, in its own way, it is a colorful installation that tells our time. In Dalmine, at the University Sports Center of the University of Bergamo, Italy (home to a vaccination center) the external fence all made of pipes – we are in Dalmine, after all: the town is home to a company that has over a hundred years of history in the production of seamless steel pipes – has become the spectacular notice board where to attach the stickers with the numbers that are served to regulate access to vaccination points.

For months now, at the exit of the vaccination center, people have removed the stickers with the number from their clothes and stuck them on the steel pipes. On stickers, not just numbers. There are also letters (P, M, A, J) relating to the initials of the types of vaccine administered. It makes a certain effect to see it. It is the barrier against contagion from a land that has suffered most from it. Signs and gestures that tell the story of our times in which memory and remembrance seem increasingly fleeting and fleeting.

Come potrebbe essere definito? Il muro metallico contro il Cattivirus? La barriera del vaccino contro il covid? Di sicuro, a suo modo, è una installazione colorata che racconta il nostro tempo. A Dalmine, presso il Centro Universitario Sportivo dell’Università di Bergamo ( sede di un centro vaccinale) la recinzione esterna, fatta di tubi (siamo a Dalmine, del resto) è diventata la spettacolare bacheca dove attaccare gli adesivi con i numeri che sono serviti per regolare l’accesso ai punti vaccinali. Sugli stickers, non solo numeri. Ci sono anche le lettere (P,M,A,J) relative alle iniziali delle tipologie di vaccino somministrato. Fa un certo effetto vederlo. È l’argine contro il contagio da parte di una terra che più ne ha sofferto. Segni e gesti che raccontano questi nostri tempi in cui la memoria e il ricordo sembrano sempre più labili e fuggenti.
