Fantastic colors and where to find them along Beeston roads, Nottinghamshire. In this video, made public for the first time (it was only presented in June 2024 at the special event “The Ghost Bus Night”, held at the ancient Church of St. John the Baptist in Beeston), I show some photos and close-up photos of cracks, scratches and deteriorations which I took in various locations in Beeston during my visits to the town, starting in October 2014, when I had the opportunity, thanks to Marysia Zipser of ACT-Art Culture Tourism, to admire the old and rusty bus of the Barton Family and their public transport company.

In Beeston, as in neighboring Nottingham, I’ve always been surprised to come across beautiful and fascinating cracks, tears, deteriorations, and scratches. I think my “Lacer/actions” project has always found its specific strength in Beeston, too: “Transforming decay into art”, as Councillor Sue Paterson, Mayor of Broxtowe, had occasion to say publicly in June 2024.

With this unpublished video, I’m delighted to support “Beeston Town of Culture 2028 Bid.” It would be truly wonderful if the “Town of the Ghost Bus”—where the artistic research project shared with me by ACT and the Barton Family was born and developed—could achieve this wonderful goal.

In questo video, reso pubblico per la prima volta (venne soltanto presentato nel giugno del 2024 nello speciale evento dedicato al progetto “The Ghost Bus”, tenutosi presso l’antica Chiesa di San Giovanni Battista in Beeston), sono raccolte foto e macrofoto che ho scattato in diversi luoghi di Beeston nel corso delle mie visite alla città, a partire dall’ottobre 2014, quando ebbi l’opportunità, grazie a Marysia Zipser di ACT-Art Culture Tourism, di ammirare il vecchio ed arrugginito bus della famiglia Barton e della loro società di trasporto pubblico. A Beeston come nella confinante Nottingham (Regno Unito), ho sempre avuto la sorpresa di imbattermi in crepe, lacerazioni, deterioramenti e graffi molto belli e affascinanti. Penso che il mio progetto “Lacer/actions” abbia sempre trovato anche a Beeston la sua forza specifica, ossia quella di trasformare il degrado in arte, come ebbe modo di dire pubblicamente la signora consigliera Sue Paterson, Mayor di Broxtowe. Con questo video sono lieto di sostenere la candidatura di Beeston a Città della Cultura 2028.
