The second day visiting Marseille can be dedicated to the area of ​​the north bank, animated by the very popular Panier district, to be discovered in the labyrinth of alleys and small squares. Once a place of disrepute, now rehabilitated and recovered, it hosts three architectural and artistic centers to visit: the incredible Vieille Charitè (built in the 17th century to provide a roof for the poor and miserable) now an exhibition and cultural centre; the imposing Major Cathedral (begun in 1852) which stands alongside an older Romanesque cathedral which houses an early Christian baptistery among the largest in Europe; the monumental complex des Accoules, with ascent and then descent towards the Hotel de Ville (Town Hall) built with pink Couronne stones enhanced by the brightness that floods the Port Vieux on sunny days.

For those who have time, the redeveloped area of ​​the Mucem (Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilizations) and the Euroméditerranèe-Joliette is worth visiting, at the center of an urban renewal project which saw the participation of the most important European architects. Worth visiting are Palais Longchamp and the Arc d’Aix. An immersion in the shopping area is unmissable, located in the very central Canebière, Rue Rome, Rue Paradis, where boutiques, restaurants and twentieth-century buildings abound. Finally, an unmissable walk along the pedestrian street of Saint-Ferrèol (the Rue Saint Fé) where you can breathe the air of the ancien régime.

La seconda giornata in visita a Marsiglia può essere dedicata all’area della riva nord, animata dal popolarissimo quartiere Panier, da scoprire nel labirinto dei vicoli e delle piazzette. Un tempo luogo malfamato, ora risanato e recuperato, ospita tre poli architettonici ed artistici da visitare: l’incredibile Vieille Charitè (costruita nel ‘600 per dare un tetto a poveri e miseri) ora centro espositivo e culturale; l’imponente  Cattedrale Major (iniziata nel 1852) che affianca una più antica Cattedrale romanica che custodisce un battistero paleocristiano tra i più grandi d’Europa; il complesso monumentale des Accoules, con salita e poi discesa verso l’Hotel de Ville (Municipio) costruito con pietre rosa della Couronne esaltate dalla luminosità che inonda il Port Vieux nelle giornate di sole.

Per chi ha scampoli di tempo, da visitare l’area riqualificata del Mucem (Museo delle Civiltà Europee e Mediterranee) e della Euroméditerranèe-Joliette, al centro di un progetto di rinnovamento urbanistico che ha visto la partecipazione dei più importanti architetti europei. Da visitare Palais Longchamp e l’Arc d’Aix.  Immancabile l’immersione nell’area dello shopping, localizzata nelle centralissime Canebière, Rue Rome, Rue Paradis, dove abbondano boutiques, locali per la ristorazione e palazzi del Novecento. Infine, imperdibile passeggiata lungo la via pedonale di Saint-Ferrèol (la Rue Saint Fé) dove si respira aria da ancien régime. Office de Tourisme et des Congrès de Marseille.
