The Treccani dictionary indicates “it bag” as the highly successful bag model
in the world of fashion, a model that was created to satisfy
specific needs or to express the Zeitgeist, or spirit of the times.
And which is the “it bag” of the moment? For the JCIDEL Fashion House of
Plantation, South Florida, it is the bag – work of art created from
the macro photographs of the artist Roberto Alborghetti and presented last
December at Art Basel Miami, in the Lucid Art Gallery, in
the lively Design District.
JCIDEL is a brand that has long been nourished by influences from the
world of art. Jeannie Cidel together with her husband, Johnny Cidel, have
traveled extensively in search of unique and exclusive works of art,
leathers of ecological quality, making use of the
contribution of international designer consultants and the savoir-faire of all-Italian
craftsmanship.
After Darryll Schiff and Fu Wenjun, the latest creative collaboration is with
the artist Roberto Alborghetti. The bags that JCIDEL considers “walking works of art” are
filled with the unmistakable creative force of Alborghetti full of
bright shades, from red, to green, to blue, to a particularly lively shade
between yellow and orange, inspired by the realistic and macro-photographic
representation of the pure essence of urban landscapes from all
over the world. His images derive from decomposed advertising
poster, torn from the walls of cities and to those tears Alborghetti gives
a particular strength, finds an artistic innovation, which returns new
colors with a unique charm. And the “aesthetics of deterioration”, as the artist defines it, transforms
the JCIDEL “it bag” into a fascinating icon that narrates an experience,
a story, a “kaleidoscope” of inspirations and nuances, sensations and
states of mind capable of transmitting them to those who carry it and those who observe it, consolidating the
bond of magical and resistible attraction between fashion and art.
