How to enhance a location by calling an artist? Marysia Zipser founder of Art Culture Tourism – International thought of it. In October 2014, 10 years ago, she invited the ecclectic artist Roberto Alborghetti to Beeston, Nottingham County/shire. During one of his visits to Beeston, Roberto had the opportunity to visit the garage of the historic Barton Transport Limited (Bartons) compa⁸ny founded in 1913. Today the business is closed and the Childwild Garage hosts creative activities: beer festivals, indoor and drive-in cinema, modern art exhibitions, food festivals, stand-up comedy, silent discos, music festivals and craft markets.
Roberto, visiting the Garage, realizes the extraordinary visual, chromatic and material potential of the forms with which time has modelled itself on the surfaces of the historic Buses.
He is attracted to its, irremediably overwhelmed and here his “scratches” are born: his visual lightning from which comes to tear, the laceration as a gesture, as creative intuition.
Roberto takes thousands of photographs, obeys the most immediate and disruptive expressive demands, giving life to original compositions.
Now the “Ghost Bus” project has become a video highlighting the beauty of Beeston-Nottingham/shire, the East Midlands and the UK, the land of the Sherwood Forest known for its ties to the legend of Robin Hood, the birthplace of George Gordon – Lord Byron, his ancestral home Newstead Abbey, the birthplace of D.H. Lawrence and the extraordinary scenic beauty, heritage of history, all of its limitless opportunity…
Last but not least, Nottingham, in the heart of the East Midlands, was named “City of Literature” by UNESCO joining Dublin, Edinburgh, Melbourne and Prague as one of the few in the world.

Come valorizzare un luogo chiamando un artista? Ci ha pensato Marysia Zipser fondatrice di Art Culture Tourism – International. Nell’ottobre del 2014, dieci anni fa, ha invitato l’eclettico artista Roberto Alborghetti a Beeston, nella Contea di Nottingham. Durante una delle sue visite a Beeston, Roberto ha avuto l’opportunità di visitare il garage della storica società Barton Transport Limited (Bartons) fondata nel 1913. Oggi l’azienda ha cessato l’attività e il Childwild Garage ospita attività creative: festival della birra, cinema al coperto e drive-in, mostre di arte moderna, festival gastronomici, stand-up comedy, discoteche silenziose, festival musicali e mercati artigianali.
Roberto, visitando il Garage, si rende conto delle potenzialità visive, cromatiche e materiche delle forme con cui il tempo si è modellato sulle superfici degli storici Bus.
Ne rimane attratto, irrimediabilmente travolto ed ecco nascere le sue “lacerazioni”: la sua folgorazione visiva da cui nasce lo strappo, la lacerazione come gesto, come intuizione creativa. Roberto scatta migliaia di fotografie, obbedisce alle sollecitazioni espressive più immediate e dirompenti dando vita ad inedite e originali elaborazioni compositive.
Ora il progetto “Ghost Bus” è diventato un video che mette in evidenza la bellezza di Beeston-Nottingham/shire, l’East Midlands e il Regno Unito, la terra della foresta di Sherwood conosciuta per i suoi legami con la leggenda di Robin Hood, il luogo di nascita di George Gordon – Lord Byron, la sua casa ancestrale Newstead Abbey, il luogo di nascita di H.D.Lawrence, tutta la sua bellezza paesaggistica, il suo patrimonio storico e le tante opportunità.
E infine, ma non meno importante, Nottingham, nel cuore delle East Midlands , è stata nominata dall’UNESCO la “Città della Letteratura”, una delle poche città al mondo accanto a Dublino, Edimburgo, Melbourne e Praga.
Grazie a Marysia e Roberto per questo progetto coinvolgente che sarà presentato ufficialmente dal Sindaco di EM il prossimo febbraio/marzo presso la Royal British Legion.

With the ‘Ghost Bus’ project, you have succeeded in identifying the signs of Beeston shaped by time, telling the story of the area in a creative, engaging, experiential way with your shots. Your lacerations produce a series of symbols that renew an iconography with which to identify and rediscover community. A new yet ancient guise, authentic yet legible, an element of a territorial identity to be shared. And discovering this beauty means falling in love again with your territory.
