All cities, even the smallest, always hold many surprises for my research into the art of decay and deterioration. I have no difficulty identifying marks, scratches, corrosion, cracks, and various disfigurements. After all, all of this speaks to the vitality of a city, an urban center. The passage of time, and of people, deposits practical and concrete traces and memories on the surface of things. Like Marseille, a beautiful seaside city, worth visiting for its historic sites, its oldest and most characteristic working-class neighborhoods (Panier), and the streets that border the sea. This series of images aims to narrate the colors and signs of the other Marseille, the one we often miss, distracted or busy with a thousand other things. Tutte le città, anche le più piccole, riservano sempre tante sorprese sul piano della mia ricerca dedicata all’arte del degrado e del deterioramento. Non faccio proprio fatica nell’individuare segni, graffi, corrosioni, crepe e deturpamenti vari. Del resto, tutto ciò, racconta la vitalità di una città, di un centro urbano. Il passaggio del tempo, e delle persone, deposita sulla superficie delle cose tracce e memorie pratiche e concrete. Come a Marsiglia, bellissima città di mare, da visitare nei suoi luoghi storici, nella sua parte più antica e caratteristica dei quartieri popolari (Panier), nelle vie che lambiscono il mare. Questa serie di immagini vuole narrare colori e segni dell’altra Marsiglia, quella che spesso non vediamo, perchè distratti o affaccendati in mille cose.
