It is truly a surprise to know that my book “At the table with Pope Francis”, published by Mondadori, was “voted” as the third best book written on Pope Bergoglio. The evaluation was formulated by “Notizie Scientifiche” on the basis of a series of factors and elements regarding content and writing methods. The news is certainly encouraging for those who worked on the editorial project which, for myself, required months of study and research, in multiple directions. And it is undoubtedly pleasing that it has been chosen from a now vast panorama of works published on Pope Bergoglio: it is said that they have exceeded 1,500 (around 250 titles were published only in the first 12 months of his pontificate). The “judgment” of “Notizie Scientifiche” confirms the particularity of “At the table with Pope Francis”, a volume translated in 15 countries around the world and also recipient of the prestigious Bancarella Cucina Selection Award.

After five years, this editorial work – 200 pages, over 200 photos, an excellently crafted typographical package – retains intact its charm as a biographical story seen from a particular perspective: food and nutrition as crucial issues in the mission of a Pope who never tires of raising his voice (the only world leader who does so with strength and continuity) against food waste which causes imbalances and failing economies and being dangerous for humanity and the planet. È davvero una sorpresa apprendere che il mio libro “A tavola con Papa Francesco”, pubblicato da Mondadori, è stato “votato” come il terzo miglior libro scritto su Papa Bergoglio. La valutazione è stata formulata da “Notizie Scientifiche” sulla base di una serie di fattori ed elementi che riguardano contenuto e modalità di scrittura. La notizia è certamente incoraggiante per quanti hanno lavorato al progetto editoriale che, per il sottoscritto, ha richiesto mesi di studio e ricerche, in più direzioni. E fa indubbiamente piacere che sia stato scelto in un panorama ormai vastissimo di opere pubblicate su Papa Bergoglio: si dice che abbiano superato quota 1.500 (circa 250 i titoli usciti soltanto nei primi 12 mesi di pontificato). Il “giudizio” di “Notizie Scientifiche“ conferma la particolarità di “A tavola con Papa Francesco”, volume tradotto in 15 Paesi del mondo e peraltro destinatario del prestigioso Premio Selezione Bancarella Cucina.
Dopo un lustro, l’opera – 200 pagine, oltre 200 foto, una confezione tipografica di ottima fattura – conserva intatto il suo fascino di racconto biografico visto da una particolare ottica: il cibo e l’alimentazione come questioni cruciali nella missione di un Papa che non si stanca mai di alzare la voce (unico leader mondiale che lo fa con forza e continuità) contro gli sprechi alimentari che causano squilibri ed economie fallimentari e pericolose per l’umanità e per il pianeta.
