Ambivere, a municipality in the province of Bergamo (Lombardy, Italy) is mentioned for the first time in a document dated 923. Therefore, its history crosses the enviable milestone of 1000 years and 1 century. It is rare and sometimes even difficult to establish the origins of municipalities and territories. In the case of Ambivere, which retains an ancient heart, with an urban nucleus dating back to the Middle Ages, there is no shortage of information.

Also in 2023, the 550th anniversary of the establishment of the Parish of San Zenone occurs, which became independent from the Monastery of Pontida on 25 January 1473 and therefore participates in historical-religious events that are connected to the presence of Cluniac Benedictine monks in the Lombard territory. And again in 2023, the community commemorates the 300th anniversary of a precious and historical instrument: the wonderful Serassi organ, installed in the ancient Sanctuary of the Madonna del Castello (14th century), in a wonderful landscape position.

The video (below) offers some “photo fragments” of Ambivere, a place where landscape and art intertwine in a 1000 year and 1 century long history. A story that some publications have tried to reconstruct, in its developments and in its main stages, such as the texts “The Sanctuary of the Madonna del Castello”, “The community of S. Ambivere, comune in provincia di Bergamo (Lombardy, Italy) è citato per la prima volta in un documento del 923. Dunque, la sua storia taglia l’invidiabile traguardo dei 1000 anni e 1 secolo. E’ raro e talvolta anche difficile stabilire le origini di comuni e territori. Nel caso di Ambivere, che conserva un cuore antico, con un nucleo urbanistico risalente al Medioevo, le informazioni non mancano.

Sempre nel 2023, ricorrono anche i 550 anni della costituzione della Parrocchia di San Zenone, che si rese autonoma dal Monastero di Pontida il 25 gennaio 1473 e dunque partecipe di eventi storico-religiosi che si collegano alla presenza dei monaci benedettini cluniacensi nel territorio lombardo. E sempre nel 2023 la comunità ricorda i 300 anni di un prezioso e storico strumento: il meraviglioso organo Serassi, installato nell’antico Santuario della Madonna del Castello (XIV Secolo), in una stupenda posizione paesaggistica.

Lievi e verdissimi colli lo circondano…”, come scrisse Neera, scrittrice e romanziera dell’Ottocento, la quale amava trascorrere giornate di vacanza ad Ambivere.
